Yes. Klip is a companion tool that works WITH your existing AI coding assistants—it doesn't replace them. You need an active subscription to at least one service (Claude/Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google AI) and the CLI tool installed. Klip helps you organize and resume sessions from your existing subscriptions, but it doesn't provide AI services itself.

Klip currently supports Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. It discovers sessions from all three providers and presents them in a unified interface.

Klip has a free tier for core session browsing, organization, and resume workflows. Pro is optional and unlocks advanced terminal management, full-text search, session forking, and export features.

Klip automatically discovers sessions by scanning the default directories where Claude Code (~/.claude/projects), Codex CLI (~/.codex/sessions), and Gemini CLI (~/.gemini/tmp) store conversation history.

No. Klip is local-first and privacy-focused. All session data stays on your machine. Klip only reads the existing session files created by your AI tools.

Yes. Klip can search across supported session history. Basic search is included in the free tier; Pro unlocks deeper full-text, file, and tool-call search workflows.

Click any session in the Klip sidebar and select "Resume Session". Klip opens a terminal in VS Code and automatically runs the command to continue your conversation.

Klip works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It also has special support for WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) environments.

Yes. Klip offers multiple grouping options (by workspace, provider, date) and sorting preferences (newest first, oldest first, most messages). You can also add custom names and tags to sessions.

Currently, Klip supports Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. Support for additional AI tools may be added in future releases.
